On the Move: Capsule Dressing for a New Life Chapter II

Uranus in Gemini: Rear Your Ponies

July 7 - Nov 8 2025

April 26 - August 3 2032

December 11 2032 - May 22 2033

Uranus is currently wrapping up its tour in the sign of Taurus, where it has played since the spring of 2018, leaving in its wake a volatile financial market, deepening concerns over earthly resources, and devastation from the consumption of the material (fast and faster fashion production?) Pluto transiting through Capricorn (a fellow Earth sign) for many of those years, added to the weight of the world we are all feeling today. Life has become heavy, many would say as Earth and Water signs have dominated the skys. But come this spring is a transition of power from Earth and Water to Fire and Air. Neptune and Saturn occupy the sign of Aries (Fire), while Uranus moves into Gemini (Air). Expect speedier (re)actions, tempers to flare, deception in communications, and revolts. The world is on the move in one direction or another, and it may feel quite scattered too. Whatever we experience in the upcoming (r)evolution of society, culture, and the planet, you may want to arm yourself with a wardrobe that supports your being on the move. Now is not the time to quiet your self-expression and play “follow the fashion leader.” Rather, it is time to light the fire within, self-express without filter, and bet high on the emergence of the self.

Unfiltered Communication Style:

Uranus:  Uranus’ presence brings the potential for breakthrough and breaking open. It helps to unbind from procrastination, fear, old patterns, and outdated approaches to the same old same old. It resets the tension, momentum, and wind (like a child’s tin toy) that will propel you forward.

Gemini: Gemini is turned on by variety, light-heartedness, witty communication, and a dash of spicy gossip. The kimono, caftan, or a light and airy robe that allows for freedom of movement (mercury/air) is a must in the Gemini closet. Why are we waiting when we can go?!

What these two might say about style: Flirt with your clothing. Go against the good-girl grain. Stand out. Be curious and informed. Follow the lead of your inspirations.

Self-expression at the Pace of Your Desires:

Uranus: Have you been waiting to self-express? Are you stuck in style routines? Are you giving yourself the freedom to share all of who you are? Uranus will push you to break free of self-limiting patterns and beliefs. It doesn’t ask, but tells you now is the time to step out. Follow intuitive leads. Dress in the unusual. Deviate from the norm. Undress from timid. Try on daring.

Gemini: Has your style dulled by the consumption of too much inspiration – and/or too much of the same? It’s ok to break away from twinning with the rest of the world. Explore your favorite fashion options. Experiment on a whim. Shop your way to sleep, but consume and edit intentionally. Despite the urging of some influencers, whole wardrobes aren’t in one day and out the next. Invite newness by hosting swap parties with besties. Communal closets could be the next great trend in dressing.

Trying Everything On:

Are you holding back? Are you hyping yourself up? Where do you and your wardrobe need to break free from limited self-expression?

Uranus: Mix, match, and remix items in your wardrobe. Experiment openly. Get out from behind the mirror and test ideas in public. Make yourself available to compliments.

Gemini: Adorn your nails and fingers so that they may act as wands of magic. Try on styles but leave those that restrict your movement and your magic on the dressing room floor.

What these two might say about style: Be discerning when buying into a dream, lifestyle, and marketing scheme. Touch fabrics. Research the history of a brand’s values in action. Can you tell the difference between AI and the handmade?

Final Questions:

How might style stitch together community and collaboration? Might you find new groups to connect with through shared ideas and visions of how to dress or how the fashion industry might change/be run?

How to make sure your wardrobe isn’t a one-trick pony:

Acquire garments that can be used for multiple occassions, dressing them up and down via the use of accessories. For this carousel, the Kimono was my base foundational piece. I can wear this kimono as a robe in the home, as a dress to a fancy dinner, and as a jacket on a more casual outing. The kimono can be worn open, tied with a traditional rope belt/cord (Obijime), or wrapped close with a belt as seen in my styling of the piece. I have paired this kimono with black suede knee-high boots and black leather and velvet accessories, but my initial vision was to wear my thigh-high white latex boots and a PVC belt accessorized with a white leather purse (I’ve been looking for one to add to my collection for two years now and have yet to decide on one). I can also wear this kimono over jeans, a white ribbed tank, and brown croc boots…pairing the refined silk with the rustic textures of western wear. Additionally, the use of jewelry can alter the presentation of a piece. A squash blossom necklace, bolo, and various metal earrings and bracelets will shift the vibe of the look from warm to cool, from understated to loud.
