Welcome to my new (updated) set… where we are going to play Style Brief every week. (I’m looking for just the right cotton candy pink carpet next.)
So, Let’s round out this cold, dry Capricorn season with a new SB on the LBC…little black coat!…of which I own many (and had to keep a few closeted for upcoming videos 😉).
I’m a coat girl. Coats make up the majority of my capsule wardrobe. My body feels like it is freezing 24/7, and I don’t really get hot over everyday clothes. Tops and pants come and go, but coats? They not only keep you warm, they make STATEMENTS. And one simple switcheroo can give you a whole new outfit.
In this collection, I wear the same jean and patent flat with two types of tops (a layering thermal long sleeve from @uniqlo and the @paulekaofficiel velvet corset from a few weeks ago.) I pair each outfit with my beloved black leather @prada clutch I’ve had since 2007. IMO, this larger sized clutch will never go out of style.
The coats featured are a vintage fur I scored off Etsy ten years ago, my recently thrifted 1980’s Vicki Teal Couture Blazer and vintage thrifted Nippon Boutique cropped jacket with silver threaded ornament — I would love to wear this cropped Albert Nippon in a western style/ Santa Fe look — but I have to find the right hat 🤔 … Next, is a silky @tomford that I love to wear as a sexier street look, and then my velvet @prada runway cape that I would normally wear with black leather knee high boots and leggings and a simple black cashmere sweater. And lastly, the alpaca robe I wear EVERY SINGLE DAY since W/16. It’s so worn out, but it’s like a big blanket and my Cancer Moon loves it. 🥐
I want the coats to be the standout personalities in my outfits, so I keep the foundational garments simple and diversify the coats through different textures and cuts.
The LBC goes with everything — from jeans to dresses to stylish sweats. Everyone needs at least one LBC, and I advise you start with a blazer or leather coat as they are most versatile and easier to find in different styles and sizing.
