Vintage Blues: Western Denim
“Who knows where it’s all going,” I’ll throw up my hands and declare, “but if I get to make it up each day upon waking, I’m going to create a little world that holds space for imaginative play and fantasy.”
After all, that is what we are doing each day, no?…painting this blank canvas of life with one decision after the next as much as we can within the larger systems, like government, in place.
I think about what I’ve done with my time here in this life, and what I want to do with each day that is left. Despite what I’m told I should put my focus on (becoming a millionaire, striving to own a fine home with a fancy kitchen-aide mixer and perfectly painted cabinets, anti-aging my face and neck) what I want is to finally run that ultra marathon, to learn how to build a vintage car from the ground up, to travel hundreds of miles with a horse, to learn how to grow abundance in every soil, to live simply with time freedom, and to leave beautiful portraits with (and of) the people I meet along the way. These experiences feel like the essentials for living.
Ok, and a wardrobe that feels…not just good enough…but GREAT. Exceptional. Essential. When you feel good, you go out and do good. (I speak for myself.) As my wardrobe has been built into a collection of garments that represent the essence of me I feel more and more confident to self-express, show up in public, introduce myself, and go after my goals. I no longer feel dowdy, unsure, energetically heavy, immature, shy…ugly. I no longer have the spiritual blues, but rather, just some great, blue denim. If you like and/or wear denim, you know that a pair of jeans can make or break your look. There are infinite styles on the market today, from vintage to contemporary, and they are all stylish. Trust your personal preference when choosing a style. Wide-leg or skinnies, they all work.
Also, toss out all fear when it comes to wearing denim on denim. Keep the wash the same from head to toe or experiment with contrasting washes of light and dark. Wear a denim boot if you even feel called. Take the look from day to night with the addition of sparkling jewels and a little clutch.
