Saturn in Pisces Fashion

Today’s post brings a glimpse of the dreamier (and less dreadful --sorry fashion industry) fashions of Saturn in Pisces, a vibe we can expect to see for the next three years as Saturn swims through the Piscean waters from March 7, 2023 through May 24, 2025 and August 31, 2025 through Feb 13, 2026.

For the past forever five years, Saturn has been touring through both of it's domiciles (Capricorn and Aquarius), and as a result discussions within the fashion industry have centered around trafficking and labor (Earth element), sustainability (Earth element), the evolution of Ecomm (Air element), and gender fluidity (Air element). Over the next few years however, we are likely to see fantasy and otherworldly design (Water element) at the forefront of fashion journalism.

Saturn’s tour in Pisces was already prepped by the themes of this current Seven Universal Year (2023): dreaming of new realities, exploring the unknown, and the questioning of current truths. We will see these topics brought through in cinema, art, celebrity gossip, global news and technology.

In the Universal Seven Year, there is separation and companionship, splitting and merging. Energy pools and it also transforms. You can’t get from point A to point B in the Seven Year without evolving. And you can’t move the process along any faster than it needs to take. Think of the Universal Seven Year as an initiation.

In numerology… the number seven carries the vibration of: spiritual growth, critical turning points, balance of the spiritual and the material, justice, unconditional love, beauty, and serenity. This number asks us reflect on our values and desires. Why do we want what we want?

In cardology…a card of seven asks us about our faith. Do we trust ourselves? Do we believe in ourselves? What do we believe in?

When the number seven appears in a card reading we may be confronted with our fears, anxieties, worries, and spiritual truths. We are asked to examine our relationship to the material and to what we cannot physically touch but intuitively know, see and feel.

In astrology…the seventh house is the house of one-to-one and contractual relationships, and our other half..or, a relationship that reflects the other half of oneself that is kept in private and/or wants to self-express. The fine arts (and sciences), foreign affairs, clients and employees, litigation, peace, theft, and marriage are all housed under the seven.

Life and imagination crack open under the influence of seven. What is ready to be awakened in that brilliant mind of yours? And, what truths are you ready to face? What have you been denying? Where have you been afraid to look? What are you ready to see? What injustices are you ready to protest? Seven is the scale that balances AND shows us where we have been out-of-balance within self + relationships with others.

The last Universal Seven Year that took place under the Saturn in Pisces influence was 1996. This was at the tail-end of the transit, but let’s see what it brought us in technology, business and culture.

Note: I view Saturn transits as periods of seed planting. The full bounty of what you sow will arrive after Saturn passes through a house or sign, while it is in the next house or sign. Do your work now, get the royalty checks later.

1996

  • The world's first sheep was cloned from adult cells, prompting the question…when a body is cloned is the spirit cloned as well?

  • In the US, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 passes opening up the separate communicaiton markets and promoting more competition and price reduction. But, it also allowed for the building of monopoly: bigger networks can buy up the little ones – and more of them. How does this change the way media shares their stories and points of view? Who can they now reach? How can they have more control over what is shared?

  • Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer divorce, fracturing the fairy-tale image. The public is divided in their love for Diana “the queen of people’s hearts” and the Monarchy.

  • Spice Girls release their first album with themes of girl power, breaking ceilings, and challenging patriarchal rules dominating the airwaves.

  • Tupac Shakur is murdered. There are mysteries surrounding his death, and questions arise about why death is the result of the east coast/west coast (media-fueld) “war.” Could there not have been peace? Did this “war” even exist? This event marks the beginning of the end for Gangsta Rap and the birth of a new sound (rap infused with pop).

  • Alanis Morsette wins album of the year with Jagged Little Pill. This album tells the story of a picture-perfect suburban family coming to grips with long-buried issues.

  • Blockbuster hit Independence Day puts Will Smith on the global map! The film addresses both the balance of power between human and alien, and what might live beyond planet Earth.

Numerology-inspired prompts for this year/transit:

•What wants to be revealed?

•Where is adjustment needed?

•Whose truth am I listening to?

•What does a new perspective offer?

On the runways of 1995/96, we saw the extremes of minimalism, goth witch, grunge, and prepster elite.

Cher Horowitz and crew rocked the halls of their high school in plaid mini skirts and crop tops, nothing got between Kate Moss and her Calvin Klein jeans, Tom Ford sexed up early 90’s grunge on the fashion runways, and The Craft possie brought it all together with fresh faces, prep school uniforms, black on black, and the mysteries of the occult.

From ‘97 onward, the heavier energies of the Saturn - Pisces (Neptune) pairing dissipated and the vibrant, glittery, girl power pop of the Spice Girls ruled. The firey colors of Aries (red, pink, denim) came into focus. Calvin was eclipsed by the hip Tommy Hilfiger. Chic sunglasses and trendy micro handbags were the accessories to sport. And speaking of “sport,” Aries the warrior helped make the Break Away Adidas Joggers a staple of all urban closets. Polished track suits of the late 90’s morphed into more sensual, velevet Juicy Couture sweatsuits (launched in 1997) of the Saturn in Taurus rehoming.

But, we are getting way far ahead of ourselves. So, let’s return to the Saturn in Pisces transit we are coming into and will experience for the next few years.

In fashion, all eyes are on the AI (Artificial Intelligence) market as it is projected to grow to 407 billion USD by 2027. Brands continue to explore avenues of profitability in the metaverse and developments in design technology that offer entry to those with minimal drafting, sewing, and illustration skills who still desire to create the fashion looks of their dreams.

(Have you seen CLO3d.com?? Is this the newest job pre-requisite for young designers entering the workforce? Goodness, I remember way back in 2014, when my 3-d printed rings were considered advanced technology!)

I wonder if we will start to see portions of garment construction performed by machines, just like semi-automated pressing and packaging of makeup lines that replace the need for human labor in all steps of production. Do you think this is where fast-fashion factories are headed?

In past tours*, Saturn in Pisces brought us art and culture highlighting imaginary lands, play in the realms of the unseen, and science-fiction fantasy.

We have already seen early previews of a Pisces-Saturn style, with Doja Cat bringing Matrix vibes to the Grammy’s red carpet in early 2023. (What IS reality?) Many stars brought the shimmer (not the glitter, the shimmer) from Viola Davis to Mary J Blige to Lauren Hashian to Lourdes Leon via rows and rows of sequin, the ultimate Pisces adornment. The world can definitely use some sparkle and self-reflection.

What else should we expect to see in the coming years?

The return of the cargo pant. Cargos were a fashion hit during Saturn's last pass through Pisces + Aries in the mid-90's...I guess Pisces needs pockets for those endless creative ideas? Boho, ruffly pieces paired with gothy leather jackets and combat boots let folks know you were emo (the emotional Pisces) but still serious (thanks Saturn). See the dark, floral dresses at the top of this post.

Keep an eye out for sea-inspired garments like tiny rhinestone and gauzy dresses as well as darker fantasy pieces like that of Alexander McQueen's imaginings. And, anything aquatic-themed, really, like the bathing cap and abalone shell jewelry.

Lastly, despite fashion passing on silky blouses for a hot second, if you still have a few hanging around your wardrobe don't give them away just yet. Flowy fabrics are in, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some 90’s inspired translucent chiffon shirt dresses in creams, blues, and purples again. See below for inspo.
