Style Brief 10.23
Pluto wants to kill off that which brings you pain. (I paraphrase James Burgess of Sabian Mysteries.) Pluto wants to help you find inner alignment. Pluto wants to help you transform the areas of your life and being that are victim to a power imbalance. Pluto wants good things for you despite the feelings of upset and upheaval it brings to your life.
Often, folks will use the analogy of the caterpillar/butterfly, when solid matter liquefies, to describe the process of a Pluto transit. I liken it to a crumbling old apartment building being razed. The building is no longer structurally sound, and it has to come down. So, outside forces demolish it. The rubble is swept away. The ground is excavated. New foundations are laid, and a brand spank’n new luxury high rise complete with a 100 million dollar art-filled lobby and multiple infinity pools is raised.
That’s what I hope to become after my last hurrah of Pluto transits, anyway – a luxury high rise. Well, I don’t know. On second thought, the butterfly option seems a bit more gentle of a process. Exit the cocoon quietly and flit away unscarred, unscathed. No matter Pluto’s method, we’re never the same.
Anyway, I look tired in this week’s Style Brief. I am. But Pluto is pushing me along. We only have two options during a Pluto Transit, “Transmute or Die!” as so perfectly described by astrologer Alan Oken.
Under the heavy weather of Transit (T) Pluto conjunct my Natal (N) Mars/opp my N Moon and T Plut/N Pluto square right now (and for the next few years, God help me) I just want to strip my daily dress of anything excess frill and color and live in vintage 90’s black. I mean…don’t even have the energy to paint my nails or eyebrows! Good thing bleached brows are having a moment.
Today’s look features a vintage @jeanpaulgaultier blouse acquired from @whatgoesaroundnyc many years ago + vintage @albertaferretti jacket from @libertylondon around the same time ‘16-17. These were the last of the larger investments I made in my wardrobe. Life drastically changed after that, and I’m so glad I purchased them when I did.
I believe I purchased the bag and shoes about 10 years ago. I don’t advise buying new Chanel now. The current prices are stupid. Be a shark and score a vintage piece if you can. If you are going to spend five figures on a purse, just go for the Hermés. Tbh, I don’t even consider buying current designer styles anymore. The craftsmanship is underwhelming and the service can’t keep up with price hikes. Invest in small makers who take great pride in their craft. I just keep these little luxuries because I already have them and otherwise don’t own much else.
Since this post was inspired by Pluto, we’ve got to touch on death and how wardrobe guidance always neglects to mention the funeral outfit. If you are curating a wardrobe you should always have SOMETHING to wear for mourning…a nice blazer, special shawl, dark dress, slacks, dress shirt…at least ONE piece that shows your celebration or honor of life in the darker days. 🖤
